Gus Argenal

Assistant Coach
Gus Argenal

Gus is entering his second season as an assistant coach at Nevada. Gus assists in recruiting, player development, scouting, in addition, his in-depth background and success in academics has made him a great asset to our Wolf Pack program.

Prior to Nevada, Gus most recently was at the helm of the Division II Cal State University East Bay men’s basketball team for the past three seasons. The Cal State East Bay Pioneers saw remarkable improvements on and off the court under Argenal’s direction. The teams he led averaged a 2.93-grade point average. In the 2016-17 season, the Pioneers improved their win total by three games including four CCAA road wins, which ties the school’s most in a season.

Prior to his three seasons with the Pioneers, Argenal spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Rice University and the University of California, Davis, and three seasons at California State University, Chico.

“We are so excited to have the Argenal family, Gus, Hannah and their sons Bo and Ace, join the Wolf Pack! Gus comes to our coaching staff as a former head coach at the collegiate level as well as experience as an assistant coach at Rice University and UC Davis, Chico State and as basketball Director of Operations at the University of Texas, San Antonio and graduate assistant at Arizona State,” Musselman said.
