Musselman Staff Complete For Upcoming Season

Head basketball coach Eric Musselman has added Ron Cooper to be the team’s athletic trainer as well as Anthony Resnick as a multimedia specialist. Graduate assistants Patrick Ackerman, Christian Murphy and Robert Edwards have also been added to the staff. Derek Saich will also be joining the staff as the video coordinator and will assist with academic monitoring.

Cooper comes to the Wolf Pack after spending time with the Chicago Bears as an athletic training intern. Ron was also an intern at Michigan State. Prior to his stops in Michigan and Illinois, Copper spent two years in Maryland at Morgan State University as an athletic trainer with the football team. Ron earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Studies from Daemen College in New York in 2012, along with a Master of Science in athletic training in 2014, also from Daemen College.

Resnick comes to Nevada from Winona State University in Minnesota where he was the athletic communications graduate assistant for two years. He also played a large role in the department’s social media efforts as well as the department’s video projects and live streaming of home events. Resnick is a 2015 graduate of Winona State with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications electronic media with minors in computer technology and coaching.

Patrick Ackerman spent one year as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. At Bridgewater Ackerman recruited athletes and scouted opponents, in addition, Ackerman worked with players individually as well as monitored academics. Ackerman is a 2016 graduate from the University of Detroit Mercy. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in leadership. Ackerman will pursue his master’s degree in educational leadership. He played basketball at Penn State and Detroit Mercy.

Christian Murphy spent the past year as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Central College in Pella, Iowa. During his time at Central College, Murphy was the head JV coach. He also specialized in recruiting, alumni relations and player development. Murphy graduated from Butler University in 2016, where he was four-year student manager for the Bulldogs, two years as a head manager. He received his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership with a concentration in journalism. Murphy will be pursuing his master’s degree in educational leadership.

Robert Edwards will be joining the staff after spending time as a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska. Edwards received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in communications with a minor in coaching, in December of 2016. As a graduate assistant he assisted with game preparations, workouts, administrative tasks as well as served as the head team manager. At Nevada, Edwards will be doing many similar tasks as he pursues his master’s degree in justice management.

Derek Saich comes from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was most recently the director of academics and video coordinator for the men’s basketball team. Prior to graduating he served as a team manager for four seasons. Saich holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in biopsychology. 

Returning staff members will be Anthony Ruta, Brandon Chambers, Hays Myers, Cade Knutson and Marcus Whitt. Associate Head Coach Johnny Jones and Assistant Coach Gus Argenal will round out the staff and Myers will be in a new position as the director of player development.

The team will traveling to Costa Rica later this week on August 18th through the 26th. They will play five games in four days and will have a few days for exploring and sight-seeing. Follow them on their trip through their social media platforms.
