2017 Suits & Sneakers Gala a Success

Last Saturday marked the American Cancer Society’s 10th annual Suits & Sneakers Gala.  An event emceed by Dreu Murin, that featured Eric and Danyelle Musselman as hosts and an appearance by MLB Hall of Famer Dave Winfield.

The night was highlighted by a silent and live auction, autographs and pictures with the Nevada Wolf Pack basketball team, dinner, and presentations from many distinguished guests, concluding with a great speech from Winfield. Winfield, who played college basketball at the University of Minnesota for Musselman’s father Bill, delivered a message of compassion and perseverance.

“Meeting a legend like Dave Winfield was special,” said Jordan Caroline, junior forward for the Wolf Pack.  “That’s a guy who’s been where we all want to be and I think some guys learned a lot from him.”

It was evident that Winfield’s message hit home with the rest of the audience as the total funds raised from the event were tallied. This year’s Suits & Sneakers Gala raised $233,000 for the American Cancer Society, a $33,000 increase in last year’s total.

“I was extremely impressed by the support of this event,” Eric Musselman said.  “The way our community came together to generously support such a great cause was truly inspiring.  Hopefully we continue to grow the event and next year’s contribution is even greater.”
