Nevada to play Arizona State in Naismith Classic

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada Basketball Program has been invited back to the Staples Center this upcoming season to face off with Arizona State in the annual Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Friday, December 7th. 

"We are incredibly excited to be playing in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic again," Head Coach Eric Musselman said. “This is another unbelievable opportunity for our program and players to showcase where our program is at... Every year, we try to improve our schedule and challenge our team against the best and to be playing against a program from the Pac-12 will be a great non-conference challenge. Arizona State is a very talented team and is extremely well-coached. This is simply a great game for our program.” 

The Sun Devils are coming off a 20-12 season with a national ranking as high as #3 in the AP Top 25 and #4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Sun Devils year ended with a NCAA Tournament first round loss ot Syracuse in Dayton, Ohio.

The event is set to take place in the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will also feature USC, TCU, Arizona State, New Mexico, and Saint Mary’s. 

“Now in its third year, the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic is a tripleheader not to be missed,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. “We look forward to partnering with Citi, AEG and STAPLES Center to host another terrific college showcase in an iconic venue in Los Angeles.”

Tickets for the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic will go on-sale to the general public on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. PT via AXS.com, by phone at 888-929-7849 and the STAPLES Center box office. Citi Pre-Sale will be available May 15 to 21. Game times and television broadcast information will be released at a later date.
