Akron Added to Non-Conference Schedule

University of Nevada head men's basketball coach Eric Musselman announced today that the Wolf Pack will host Akron on Dec. 22 at Lawlor Events Center.  The Pack is working to complete its non-conference slate as neutral site games with Arizona State and Grand Canyon along with a game at USC have already been announced.

"Our program couldn't be more excited to play a program like Akron in our building this year," Musselman said.  "Akron over the last 15 years have been an elite mid-major and has won more than 20 games in 14 of the last 15 seasons, with a transition year last year with new head coach John Groce. We know Akron will be a great test for our team in the non-conference."

The Zips went 14-18 last season and 6-12 in the MAC under first-year head coach John Groce.  Nevada and Akron have played twice with the Pack winning at home 88-61 on Feb. 17, 2006 and on the road 73-71 Dec. 22, 2006.  The first game was part of the ESPN BracketBuster and the second contest was a return game the next season.
