Luke Babbitt Visits with Wolf Pack Players

For the second week in a row a Wolf Pack basketball legend made their way to our summer workouts to visit with the team. Last week Ramon Sessions was in town for his youth camp and stopped by, while yesterday it was Luke Babbitt who made an appearance.

Luke Babbitt, the Reno native, is currently in town for his annual youth basketball camp. This year the camp is held in honor of his best friend Tristan Hill, who died in a helicopter crash in March. Hill and Babbitt started the youth camp in 2015.

Despite his busy schedule and circumstances of the camp, Babbitt still made time to check out his alma maters' new facility, watch practice and speak to the team. He spoke to the current Wolf Pack players about the importance of taking care of your body, getting adequate rest, taking advantage of all the resources Nevada basektball proivdes, and how the former players support our team.

"We all follow you guys. All of the former players: Ramon [Sessions], JaVale [Magee], Nick Fazekas... It’s a pretty rich history here with a lot of great players," Babbitt stated. "We’re proud of what you guys did last year for sure, but take it to the next level. Don’t get complacent!"

Luke was at Nevada from 2008-2010 before declaring for the NBA draft after his sophomore season. In 2008-2009, Babbitt was the WAC Freshman of the Year, WAC Newcomer of the Year and earned 1st Team All Conference honors. His sophomore season he continued his success on and off the court. He received the 2009-2019 WAC Player of the Year, was AP All American Honorable Mention and was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All American.

In the 2010 NBA Draft Babbitt was selected 16th overall by the Portland Trailblazers where he spent his first 3 seasons. The 8-year NBA veteran played for the Miami Heat last season and is currently a free agent with several teams vying for his services. Our Wolf Pack family would like to thank Luke Babbitt for all he has done for the program and we wish him all the best in the rest of his career.

Pack players were able to witness Luke's work ethic as he got in a workout at the brand new state-of-the-art Ramon Sessions Basketball Facility.
