The Rematch

The Rematch

The much anticipated Sweet 16 rematch against Loyola Chicago ended in favor of the Wolf Pack on Tuesday night. In front of a national audience, the Wolf Pack wanted to make a statement.

From the opening tip, it was evident that Caleb Martin had been waiting quite some time to play this game. Martin tallied 21 points on the night and was on fire right out of the gates knocking down multiple 3pt shots and finishing at the rim. He set the tone early for the rest of the game. His twin brother Cody, who finished with 20 points, helped set the tone of the defensive end, as his match up was Clayton Custer. Cody and the rest of the Pack defense did a great job smothering their guards and making it difficult to execute their offense, which led to us holding the Ramblers to only 28 points in the first half.

The second half was not much different as our defense willed us to our 7th straight victory. Trey Porter tallied his first double double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Chicago native, Jordan Caroline, finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds in front of his hometown crowd.

This win meant a lot for our seniors Cody, Caleb and Jordan who wanted to make a statement on a national stage against the team that knocked us out of the NCAA Tournament last season.

We appreciate all of the Pack fans that made the trip for this game and hope to see you at USC on Saturday!
