Nevada Basketball: Back Against the Wall

Nevada Basketball: Back Against the Wall

Coach Musselman and the Pack staff wanted our team to play with our backs against the wall.

In the lockeroom pregame, Muss had everyone stand up and put their backs against the wall and said, "The last four games we have started slow. We have come out flat and had to and had to fight our way back for a win. Once we get down, we start to play with our backs against the wall because where is the only place we can go? Forward."

Coach Muss was fired up and you can tell our guys were locked in. We wanted to get off to a better start this game and not dig ourselves a big hole in the first half.

"You have to fight each second of the game as if there is nowhere else to go but forward. Feel the wall behind you and understand you have nowhere to go. It is in this room that we have to start with our backs against the wall and with the kind of emotion that we're moving only moving forward once we get out on the court. Play angry. The only way to leave this arena is if we play with the energy, enthusiasm and effort we know how to from the jump. There is no where else to go but forward!"

Pack players heard this message loud and clear and put together a great 40 minute effort that resulted in in a 86-71 victory against Utah in Salt Lake City.

We want to have this mentality going into every game for the rest of the season. We are going to be playing with our backs against the wall and bringing the energy we need to win for 40 minutes.

Come watch us play with our backs against the wall tomorrow as we start conference play against Utah State for the first game of 2019!
