Pack Make History in Conference Opener

Pack Make History in Conference Opener

The Pack starts Mountain West Conference play 1-0 after a 72-49 win against Utah State last night in Reno. The win improves our record to 14-0, which is the best start in the history of Nevada Basketball.

In front of the 11th largest crowd in Nevada Basketball history, the Pack used a a great offensive start and 40 minutes of lock down defense to will our team to victory.

The Pack held Utah State to 49 points last night, the lowest amount a team has scored against us all year. The last time Nevada held a team under 50 points was 11/15/2014 versus Cal Poly. Utah State came into this game as one of the best offensive teams in the country averaging 81.4 points per game. The last time they were held under 50 points was 1/31/2015 versus San Diego State.

We knew in order to win this game we had to hold them well under their season scoring average. Pack players stepped up to the challenge and delivered our best defensive effort of the year.

A huge factor in the game was the 11,224 fans in Lawlor creating energy for us. To play in front of the best fans in the country night in and night out makes our job alot easier and makes it more difficult for our opponents when they step into Lawlor.

We appreciate your support and will need it again next Wednesday, January 9th at 8pm as we play San Jose State! Go Pack!
