A Letter From Martina Wood: Director of Multimedia Services

Arkansas Razorback Family!

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this city, this university, and the loyal fan base. Coach Muss and his staff reached out to me and shared the vision for this new era of Arkansas Men’s Basketball. I just could not turn down the opportunity. With my new role as Director of Multimedia and Special Projects, I will have the chance to collaborate with an amazing team of individuals to enhance the Razorback brand. I can not wait to get started!

See you at the Palace! #WPS

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 2005 - 2010: Wood was a five-year player, including one redshirt season, at North Carolina, where she earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies in 2010. She saw significant time for the national power Tar Heels, playing in 93 games, including nine as a starter. She was on back-to-back Final Four teams (2006, 2007) and helped win three Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championships (2006, 2007, 2008).

Professional Playing Experience: Following her collegiate playing career, Wood went on to play professionally for teams in Norway, Greece, Lebanon, Ukraine and Jordan. Having garnered valuable cultural experience she was also able to bring home some hardware.

The University of Kansas: During her two seasons at the University of Kansas as a graduate assistant, Wood earned a master's degree in communication studies. Her numerous duties entailed helping develop post players through practice and workouts, coordinator of the practice team, while also being involved with scouting and academic progress. The Jayhawks won 28 games over those two seasons, including 11 in the highly competitive Big 12, and totaled six All-Big 12 selections. Included in those honorees was Chelsea Gardner, a two-time All-America Honorable Mention and second-round draft pick of the WNBA's Indiana Fever.

Bucknell University: Wood was apart of Patriot League powerhouse Bucknell Bison. Wood helped guide the Bison to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and to the WNIT in 2016. She also guided three student-athletes -- Claire DeBoer, Kaitlyn Slagus, and Sune Swart -- to a combined four All-Patriot League selections. DeBoer made the First Team in each of her final two seasons and capped her career with Patriot League MVP and Tournament MVP honors. Wood has also helped Bucknell post an impressive 52-14 record, including a 33-3 mark in the Patriot League, in her two years with the program.

The University of Richmond: Wood spent two seasons as an assistant coach at The University of Richmond in the Atlantic 10 where she was mainly responsible for scouting, post play, and strategizing recruiting initiatives for social media.

Experience: Wood has built up her basketball resume by directing and working camps for Rutgers, Penn State, North Carolina, The Transition (The Ultimate Basketball Experience) and numerous others. She has continued to grow her marketing experience by serving as Marketing Coordinator for A Step Up, Inc. She came into this role and has been able to be apart of helping other basketball assistants with their professional development. A Step Up, Inc. mission is to educate, equip, connect and inspire.
